Hello! My name is Lauren Gunn. I am an energetic, fun-loving teacher with a passion for helping others. Although born in the lovely Sierra Nevada Mountains of California, I have made my home in Colorado with my husband Andy and twins Charlie & Toby. I have a master’s from the University of Denver in Education. This is my 11th year teaching at Renaissance, including 5th grade, 3rd grade, and kindergarten. It is truly a privilege and pleasure to be a teacher here. The dedication to students, the adventure education program, and the strong culture of community are one-of-a-kind at Renaissance. I am passionate about helping students grow to become life-long learners and critical thinkers, as well as happy, confident individuals.
When not teaching or chasing twins, I love mountain biking. It has been fun that my husband and I share a love of biking, so we have been able to bike in beautiful destinations such as Crested Butte, Moab, and Whistler, Canada. We love to travel, explore, and eat! One of my favorite things to do over the summer are offroad sprint triathlons, which has standup paddleboarding, mountain biking, and trail running. With my family, we love to go to the lake, camp, and be outside. Lastly, I enjoy taking pictures and putting together elaborate photo albums. Taking pictures brings me great joy and a grateful heart for all the wonderful moments of each day. I am looking forward to a wonderful year in kindergarten together! ~Ms. Lauren

Hi! My name is Martha Ortega and I am SO excited to be helping Ms. Lauren in teaching our Kindie crew for another year! This is my third year at Renaissance Elementary, but my seventh year as an educational assistant in varying fields. Originally born and raised in Southern California, my husband and I made our move to Colorado with our two daughters, Arilyn and Charlotte, and my mom, in Summer of 2021.
In my spare time, you will find me cozied up with a cup of coffee and reading a book. I also enjoy taking time with my family outdoors and making memories with them, while also taking the time to just sit in nature and meditate.
I am looking forward to this year --- we will have so many great adventures together, and it is going to be a great school year!
