 Announcements

Conference Questionaire: Before our conference, can you please fill out this short Google form? This helps me prepare for our time together.

(Repeated for Reference)

First Semester Parent Teacher Conferences:
Here is a link to our First Semester Conference Sign Up, that will be taking place in December. It will be a 20 minute time slot, where I can share celebrations of learning for this first half of the year. Please bring your child to this conference. The conference will start with time for your child to pridefully share with you things in our room and examples of best work. Then we can meet to talk more specifically about growth and next steps. Wow- you are going to be amazed to see such tremendous growth!

Q&A
-I prefer not to have siblings in the room so that the focus can be on your child. However, if there are no other options, then I understand.
-If you EVER have a concern, please email me. We do not have to wait until conferences if there is something you would like to discuss. :)
-In addition to conferences, you will be getting a EPR (Electronic Progress Report) before Winter Break. This is the more formal way that teachers share out learning, but you will find our parent conferences to be where you get more specific, personalized information.
Looking forward to this time together!
~Ms. Lauren

Adopt a Family: Holiday Adoptions/Giving

Every year during the month of November, Ms. Allison, our school social worker, works tirelessly, with a team of volunteers, to gather donations and gifts for families in our Douglas County community, who might otherwise do without. As a crew, we have agreed to help her secure some items for a few of the families she is seeking to help. If your family might be able to help, please take a look at the Ms. Lauren’s Crew Holiday Giving Family Sign Up and sign up for an item or two that you would be able to purchase and donate.  We still have quite a few items that need to be purchased, if you are interested.

Please read and follow the directions on the sign up carefully paying special attention to the following:

  • Items must be new

  • Items must be unwrapped

  • Items need to be labeled with the letter/number combo that matches the sign up (with a stickie note)

  • All items must be brought to school (to me) by Monday, November 27th (this is the Monday following Thanksgiving break). There will be a bin next to our snack station (in the hallway next to our door).

Parent Crew Foundation will be hosting a wrapping gathering on December 1st. Look for more information soon if you might be interested in helping to wrap all of these gifts.

If your family might be interested in adopting a family on your own and/or helping Ms. Allison in other ways with this project, please reach out to her for more information: aparmour@dcsdk12.org

If you are interested in learning more about Ms. Allison's Holiday Adoption Program, you can read more here. It is truly touching!

Crew Highlights:

Woohoo! Thank you for helping me spoil with Ms. Martha with flowers and notes on her birthday. We love you Ms. Martha! 💗

Monday was World Kindness Day.

During Crew Skills, students reflected with Ms. Halle how to show kindness. Then Ms. Halle made this beautiful display on our door- HOW KIND! :)

After reading a few books about kindness, we brainstormed more ways to show kindness at school and at home.

We made rainbows with examples of kindness.

"Be a rainbow in someone else's cloud."
-Maya Angelou

Thank you for participating in the school spirit days to promote the Bookfair!
How fun!

Wow- the Scholastic Boofair was a HUGE success!
Hope you found some great books.

In preparation for our fieldwork, we reviewd bus agreements and talked about our purpose:
to watch the prairie dogs so that we could learn more about them.

Ms. Keelie and Ms. Lauren were the bus drivers over to the King Soopers parking lot on Ridge Road.

Right away, we were able to see 10-15 prairie dogs.

We heard the prairie dogs barking to alert the others, and most of the prairie dogs disappeared underground. They worked together as crew to keep each other safe!

We shared what we noticed as we walked.

We noticed that the prairie dogs' tail would shake when they barked- a good question to look into more! We also noticed that the mounds were taller than the ground, and students predicted that this helped them see better.

We noticed how close the houses were and talked about how building the houses might have impacted the prairie dogs.

Here was our Fieldwork Observations from when we got back.
Well done CREW! What successful fieldwork!
*Ask your child to share this experience with you at home.

We read the book Turkey Trouble, in which a turkey disguises himself as farm animals. With 4th grade buddies, our crew came up with some fantastic and hilarious disguises.

I am not a turkey! I am a:
football player, rainbow cat, peacock, pizza delivery, candy delivery, and flamingo.
Too funny!

We also did a watercolor turkey craft!

Hooray for the courage and perseverance shown climbing this week.
If your child climbed on Friday (today), I will post pictures on Seesaw this evening. :)

Happy Birthday Rowan!

I am THANKFUL for our CREW!
May your Thanksgiving be full of peace, joy, and good health.

With gratitude,
~Ms. Lauren
