New:

*I sent home a copy of the gear list, so that parents can help check off each item as your child packs it. :)

*As of now, the weather in Camp Elim is calling for chilly temperatures with rain on Wednesday and morning showers then warmer temperatures on Thursday. Please make sure your child is prepared with both rain pants and jacket.

*If you have packing questions, please email Ms. Ashley: acammack@dcsdk12.org

New: Personal Update: I am excited to announce that next year I will be teaching 3rd grade with Ms. Carmen. I taught 3rd grade at REMS for 5 years before I taught kindergarten. I absolutely love both Kindie and 3rd! Also, it will be fun to see our BIG 1st graders in the primary hallway, and in a few years, to have the opportunity to be your 3rd grade teacher. I adore our Crew, and they will always have a special place in my heart.

Repeated iReady info:

iReady Growth reports went home on Wednesday. These show your child’s growth from the Beginning of the Year to now. It outlines a score as well as a detailed description for how this applies to your child.

*If you have any questions, let’s set up a time to meet outside of our Student-Led Conferences, which will be purely celebrations.

Crew Highlights:

This week, we have been busy getting ready for Camp Elim, student led conferences, and working on Mother’s Day crafts. We cannot wait!

Sleeping Bag day was a hit!
Students loved having them to stretch and laze on during solitude.

Then, they did a fantastic job of learning how to work with a partner to stuff them.

One person would be the "holder" and one the "stuffer."
I encourage you to practice at home.

Earlier in the week, we talked about packing for Camp Elim.

They helped select which items were best, and we packed them into labeled zip lock backs.

Hooray for our sunflowers starting to sprout!

To give our sunflowers some extra love, the crew read to their plants.
So sweet!

We had our last day in library.
Thank you Ms. Erin for a great year in library!
All books are due May 21st.

Students loved riding their bikes through the hallways of our school!

We got our Terracycle box for recycling markers, pens, and pencils.
WOW! We already almost filled it to the top!
This has been such a great service project for our Crew- to really see all the markers that are being kept out of the landfill and feel the sense of making a difference!

Happy (belated) birthday to Birdie, Vivian, and Hazel!

Wishing all Moms, Stepmoms, and Grandmas a Happy Mother's Day!
(Enjoy the special surprise coming home in backpacks!)
Warmly, ~Ms. Lauren
